Maximise the potential of organ donation

Support Donor Wishes
Organ donation is a selfless sacrifice on the part of the donor. Their last wish is to perform a benevolent act to help somebody in need.

Unfortunately, many donated organs do not meet the necessary criteria and cannot be used for transplantation. These organs however, offer an amazing opportunity for research and drug development, whilst honoring the wishes of the organ donor to bring about some benefit to society when they pass away.
Improve Drug Development
Currently drug development is dependent on animal models which do not accurately replicate the disease conditions found in people. A sick person and a healthy animal are very different things. This partly explains the difficulty in drug development and why so many drugs fail when transitioning from animal to human studies.
Donor organs rejected from transplantation as well as explanted recipient organs offer a massively useful opportunity to change the way we develop medicines and accelerate drug development.
